Empty Bowls

In Fall 2024, Callaghan Cavanaugh participated in Creighton University’s Empty Bowls Project, a service-learning course offered to Senior Studio Art students. The program combined hands-on ceramics practice with community outreach, including creative workshops led by students for residents of the Siena Francis House Miracles Addiction Recovery Program.
The project culminated in a community-wide benefit sale of student-made ceramic bowls, with all proceeds donated to the Siena Francis House. The 2025 event marked a milestone for the program, raising a record-breaking $17,272 and selling out for the first time since its inception in 2006.
Callaghan also spoke with KMTV News Omaha about the project and its broader impact. The interview can be viewed here: KMTV News Feature
